Florin 1942 obverse |
Crowned effigy of George VI by Metcalfe, left.
Struck at San Francisco due to the war emergency, of 900 fine silver to the US coin standard, as there were no facilities for handling 500 fine quaternary alloy. Curiously, the Australian coinage struck at the same time in the same denominations was 925 fine.
11.31 g, 900 fine silver (0.3273 oz ASW), reeded edge.
