2007 Canada $20 Proof Sterling Silver Coin - 125th Anniversary Polar Year - With Plasma Effect
This $20 coin is certified to be 92.5% silver. It has a diameter of 40 millimetres and a weight of 27.78 grams. State-of-the art plasma technology was used to create the unique colour intensity and metallic hue on the reverse. Designed by Canadian artist Laurie McGaw, it depicts Sir Martin Frobisher with a 16th century compass rose and his ship, the Gabriel. An iceberg, polar bear and Inuit man in a traditional kayak are other iconic images that bring the essence of the Arctic to this composition. The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, by Susanna Blunt.
