Republic of Texas $5 1840
The front of a Republic of Texas "redback" $5 dated Aug 25 1840, showing an "Indian Brave" central vignette.

It's cut-cancelled; a common fate for these notes. Despite being hacked at five times with the blade, there aren't any pieces missing. The cuts seem to have been repaired long ago with thin paper tape.

Purchased off forum member Tradernick.

Nice. As a former history teacher, I really appreciate this note.
