Translating an Early Islamic Coin - Reverse
This is a silver dirham from the dawn of the Caliphate, Year 95 in the Islamic calendar (= 715 AD). The script is Kufic, an early form of Arabic. The entire design on this side of the coin is taken up with key verses from the Qur'an.

Made with assistance from Richard Plant's book, "Arabic Coins and How to Read Them". The original coin image was posted in the forum by fahte.
