I used mechanical cleaning and a light chemical dip for a couple minutes, then finished off with a thoothbrush and soaked in distilled water overnight. The patina is still intact with lighter areas in the spots that had scratches before from the original cleaning. There is still buildup around some of the letters and by the nose area. I will leave these because they add to the authenticity of the coin.
